KINETICA™ 4 Premieres December 3rd

Our last KINETICA™, “K3,” featured works from
the 1950s, the era of Jazz and The Beats. It was
only logical that KINETICA™ 4 examine the 60s, a
time of intense experimentation with psychedelic
drugs, psychedelic imagery, a flowering of interest
in Eastern religions and mysticism, and a widespread
adoption of film and video as a means of personal
expression.

Curated by film scholar and visual music authority
Dr. Bill Moritz, K4 surveys this period with works by
Jordan Belson, Stephen Beck, John and James
Whitney, Scott Bartlett, Pat O’Neill and others, plus
a rare film documentation of a light show performance
by The Single Wing Turquoise Bird.

Many of these films have been newly preserved especially
for KINETICA™. As usual, this focused historical program will
be accompanied by a broad overview of abstraction in
contemporary film, video and computer animation, featuring
works by David Lebrun, Robert Darroll, Ying Tan, Stephanie
Maxwell and many others.
